February 23, 2011: Muskoka Family Focus is hosting a focus group for new Canadian families. It is open to all immigrant and refugee families who have been living in Canada with the purpose of finding out how they can better serve the needs of New Canadian Families. The goal is to build a stronger, more inclusive community. Course Topics
- The A(art), B(books), C’s(circle songs) of Home Childcare,
- Giving Children Feedback (ways to encourage),
- As the Child Plays (through observation activities, learning about the importance of play and how to be an appropriate play partner),
- Bring a Book Alive (how to read to engage a child’s interest),
- Early Learning Around the Home (identifying daily living experiences which when children are included, support children’s development)
- Babies, Toddlers and Preschoolers – Who Needs What, When? (overview of the developing child and how to support their development)
- Importance of Routines (what is a routine and why is it important to have routines).
- Infant Massage Instruction (0-6 Month olds)
- Family Math and Wings of Discovery Science program. (JK/SK aged children)

February 5, 2011: We are going to celebrate our first Muskoka Chinese New Year on February 25th, 6 p..m. at Norman Bethune House in Gravenhurst. Tickets are $20.00 each and will include a 10 traditional Chinese Food dishes. Please invite your family and friends to join us. Tickets will only be available in advance of the evening.
August 23, 2010: The Muskoka Moving Forward Visioning Initiative would like to confirm the time and location of the upcoming meeting. The meeting will take place on August 23, from 7 P.M. – 9 P.M. at the District of Muskoka Office located on Pine Street. Those attending are asked to go in the side door and down the stairs. We look forward to seeing everyone out to support this event.

August 2, 2010: The Muskoka Moving Forward Visioning Initiative is set for Monday August 23. Location to be determined as soon as possible. The Vision Initiative helps to shape the future of Muskoka and guides policies in the Muskoka Official Plan. Collecting public input is a key component of the process and we want to hear from all residents, businesses, and organizations.

July 10, 2010: The Muskoka Multicultural Association in partnership with Zensation’s Emporium would like to thank everyone who participated in the first official Muskoka Multicultural Art Festival that was held at the Zensation’s Emporium & Art Gallery through June 25 to July 4. July 1, 2010: The Muskoka Multicultural Association is pleased to announce that our funding proposal to the Ontario Trillium Foundation has been accepted. The funding is to support 6 community gathers and the development and delivery of a survey of newcomers in our region. THANKS OTF
April 25, 2010: The Muskoka Multicultural Association is in discussion with Zensation’s Emporium to hold the first official Muskoka Multicultural Art Festival this summer. The art festival would allow local and national multicultural artists and opportunity to showcase their work to the public. The festival would also welcome the launch of the Multicultural Art Gallery of Ontario, a organization formed around promoting visible minority artwork. The festival is to take place June 25 – July 4 at the Zensation’s Emporium & Art Gallery, located at the Gravenhurst Wharf, on Lake Muskoka.
March 3, 2010: The District of Muskoka is beginning a visioning process for its new official plan. They would like to have a meeting with our group so that they can make sure that the needs and desires of newcomers are included in this process. As soon as we have a date, I will post it on our events calendar and on this page. This would be an excellent event to attend as it would give you an opportunity to have your voice heard.
